Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering at The Elephant’s Trunk is rewarding, versatile and fun. Your volunteer experience can be as varied as you like or, if you are most comfortable in a particular duty, more routine.


Volunteer opportunities at The Elephant’s Trunk may require a specific time commitment orhave flexibility depending on your personal schedule, duty preference and expectations. Reliability and a commitment to assist in the smooth operation of the business are a must.


We prefer new volunteers to spend time becoming familiar with all aspects of the consigning process, sales procedures and assisting customers and fellow volunteers, as needed.


Volunteer time slots are available on a weekly or bi-weekly basis:

Monday - Saturday:  10:00am - 1:15pm        11:00am - 2:00pm        1:15pm - 4:30pm

During Emmaus Farmer’s Market Season:  Sunday  10:00am - 2:00pm


Other areas of volunteer assistance include:

Youth Volunteer Opportunities

The Elephant’s Trunk can assist in fulfilling your high school Community Service credits. You, or your Advisor may contact a volunteer day manager at 610-967-6621 for further information.


Positions are also available for summer term junior volunteers. Volunteering can be a rewarding part of your summer and can compliment your interest in areas of study such as Computers, Women’s Studies, Decorating, Business and Business components: Non-profit Business, Customer Relations.


We can tailor your volunteer duties to meet your needs.


The Elephant’s Trunk is a non-profit organization, managed like a profitable business. Maintaining established hours of operation, the safe-keeping of our consignor’s property and consistent service to our customers are our priorities. As a solid presence in the Emmaus business community since 1985, we strive to uphold the legacy of good business practices established by our founder, Susanne Burkholder.


You will meet an interesting and dedicated group of people, several whose years of service are in double digits. Much work and many people are involved in raising the non-profit dollars that are contributed regularly to Planned Parenthood of North East Pennsylvania. We would be happy to have you join our team.
