How to Consign

First time consignors should call 610-967-6621 to schedule an appointment.

Prepare your items (up to 20 items) to bring into the shop (see Tips).

Arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time to register and to set up your account with us.

There is a $10 fee - payable at registration - which covers entering your account information into our computer system, tracking the sale of your items and issuing and mailing your checks. (You can continue to consign, up to once a week, for a full year from the date you pay your fee)

You will meet with two of our experienced pricers who will review your items and determine a selling price. You will receive 50% of the final selling price. Each item must have a saleable value of at least $8.00. (If it is determined that an item is not eligible for consignment, either due to lesser value or condition, we could accept it as a donation to be sold in our bargain basement).

We will list your priced items - you will receive a copy - and then display the items in the shop. If, after 4 weeks an item remains unsold, the price will be reduced by 20% and remain on display for 2 additional weeks.

If you decide to retrieve any unsold items in your consignment, you must call 610-967-6621 on or before the expiration date recorded on your consignment sheet to inform us of your intent to “pick up” your items.

Our volunteers will package your items for you, to be picked up within one week of the expiration date.

All items not requested by their expiration date or picked up become the property of The Elephant’s Trunk.

Once you are comfortable with the consigning process, you may schedule subsequent appointments or you can choose to “drop off” your items in the future. You may schedule one appointment per week or bring one “drop off” per week, up to 20 items.

Checks for sold items will be mailed after the tenth day of the following month, from the administrative offices of PPNEP.

Proceeds from any sale retained by The Elephant’s Trunk for all items that are handled on consignment, unclaimed or donated outright is considered a donation to Planned Parenthood of North East Pennsylvania (PPNEP) and is deductible as allowed by law.  No goods and services are ever given to the donor or consignor by PPNEP in exchange for a contribution.
